Top 5 places in the US for Poker Players

Poker destinations aren't hard to find in the U.S - but which cities offer the best opportunity to play at all stakes? Keep reading to learn about five of the top places in the U.S. for poker players.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Of course Las Vegas tops the list of U.S. cities for poker players! Nowhere in the world will you find a larger pool of players that are ready to play for stakes of all sizes. It’s a mecca for visitors that want to try their hand at a professional poker table, and there’s a distinct possibility they may sit down next to a pro.

There are 240 poker tables in the ten largest casinos in Las Vegas, but that’s a limited sampling of the 50+ poker rooms on and off the Strip. And who can forget that the annual World Series of Poker tournament comes to town for six weeks in June and July.

The real appeal of Las Vegas is the variety of gambling. If you want to step away from the poker table for a while, you can enjoy virtually any casino game ever created. There’s also world-class entertainment around every corner.

Los Angeles, California

The City of Angels is home to the movie industry and a thriving poker community. Poker has been legal in California since the 1930s, and the state has been adding poker tables ever since. Los Angeles has become the undisputed hot spot for poker playing.

L.A. has three of the largest poker rooms in the world. You can find plenty of opportunities to play limit hold’em for as low as a $2 buy in or no limit hold’em with the high rollers. There are also dozens of daily poker tournaments to get in on. If you want to see the pros in action, there are plenty of high-profile tournaments like the WPT L.A. Poker Classic.

If you’re looking for a spot at the table, head down to the Bicycle Casino, Commerce Casino, Hollywood Park Casino or the Gardens Casino. Commerce Casino alone has over 200 poker tables!

Atlantic City, New Jersey

Back in the day, Atlantic City was just about the only place to legally play poker on the east coast. Today Atlantic City may be less illustrious compared to its heyday in the 1970s, but it’s still a town known to cater to poker players.

It’s a spot for poker players that are looking for nostalgia and a seaside escape. Atlantic City is also popular among up-and-coming poker players in the northeast - maybe because there are 100+ poker tournaments in any given week.

The Borgata is the top poker attraction in Atlantic City. It has an impressive 85 poker tables, which is more than any casino in Las Vegas. There are also a good number of tables at Ballys, Harrah’s, The Showboat and the Trump Taj Mahal.

New Orleans, Louisiana

The city of New Orleans may be better known for Mardi Gras and Bourbon Street, but poker players come to town for the casinos. There are eight poker rooms within New Orleans and even more within a short driving distance. Harrah’s, right in the heart of the city, is where many people come to play a few hands of pot-limit Omaha and Texas hold’em.

If you’re looking for a change of scenery, Biloxi and its five casinos are less than an hour and a half away. You can also hop aboard one of the riverboat casinos in New Orleans, which were recently approved to operate on land. For now, Boomtown Riverboat Casino is still in the Harvey Canal just 15 miles from the French Quarter.

While you’re in New Orleans you can also enjoy Cajun cuisine, plenty of live jazz and spectacular architecture you won’t find anywhere else in the U.S.

Hollywood, Florida

Florida is a top vacation destination for beach-goers, but some cities in the sunshine state are also attracting poker players. The state gradually legalized poker in the last 20 years, but betting was limited until 2009 when the betting restrictions were largely lifted.

Hollywood is where people come to play poker tournaments in the deep south. This is where you’ll find the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which hosts the World Series of Poker Circuit and the World Poker Tour. Poker players also like that there’s no income tax in Florida, which means if you hit it big at a tournament you take home all the winnings.

Casinos may not be legal in Texas, but with our help you can host your own Vegas-style casino night anywhere in the Lone Star State. Our casino parties are 100% legal and feature an array of authentic slot machines, professional poker tables and dealers that could handle their own on the Strip. We also have everything you need to host a poker tournament for charity or just for fun.
